Towards the end of August 1996, my husband Carlo had a little expectoration of blood after a short of cough. In that period his physical conditions were good and there was no evidence of something pathological, but our family doctor suggested a thorax X-ray. The radiograph pointed out a dark spot in the left lung, and my husband was admitted to the local hospital to be subjected to further exams. He had a bronchoscopia, a tomography, an echography of abdomen, a bony scintygraphy.
All these exams confirmed the presence of a tumour in the left lungseat, and it was decided to make also a nuclear magnetic risonance, to give a summary of the situation as complete as possible in view of the operation that couldn’t be delayed.
In this occasion and since the beginning of it, needing not only a practical help but also a spiritual one, we trusted to prayer, and we called for help the Saint Doctor Joseph Moscati, who since long time is our family protector. Than we contacted in Genova a valid and world-wide renown surgeon of the thorax, who is also a christian and a sensible man. He consented to make the operation saying that he " would do all that is humanly possible" but also "first of all we have to trust in God!".
The operation began early in the afternoon on September 30th, 1996 and lasted for hours, longer than expected. My son and I spent that long time praying God, our Father, calling for help St. Joseph Moscati, so that he could obtain the grace for our beloved Carlo.
Many hours later the surgeon called me and told me that he had to remove the whole left lung, besides the dubious lymph-nodes, and that only 24 hours later the prognosis, very strict could have been absolved. Our anguish seemed to grow… and the prayers grew! But God is great and mercyful and he certainly listened to St. Joseph Moscati, as our patient got better, the post operatory course developed in a more and more satisfying way. On October 18th my husband was discharged from hospital to continue his convalescence at home.
Further check-ups confirmed my husband’s very good conditions, so the surgeon and the doctors decided he didn’t need either chemiotherapy or radiotherapy.
Now my husband is well enough, bearing in mind that he’s a 73 years old pensioner, with the infirmities of his old age. I will never be grateful enough to St. Joseph Moscati to whom I trust now and ever the protection and the care of my family and that I wish to thank in a certain way, letting people know, through your gazette, his power of helping with God, Whom he served in this world with love and devotion to the sufferings. Thanks St. Joseph Moscati! (Elvira Cogrossi Pozzi- Savona)

Avv. Di Mauro with his son

Since I was studying at the University in via Mezzocannone, Naples, I never failed to pop over Gesù Nuovo, to pray on the Saint Doctor‘s tomb: I’d never had thought that one day I‘d have to pray for myself.
I got married in 1995 and our greatest desire was to have a child at once, as a completion of our love and in order to have a big family in a few years. But some years later, as we didn’t reach in our desire, we contacted a good doctor but he never gave us the certainty of a pregnancy. Our life was passing among echographies and therapies. The one who was suffering the more was my wife, not only when she knew about mothers who abandoned their children in the streets, but also when she simply saw children, especially babies.
One day, on March 18th, 1997, I went to the Gesù Nuovo to pray the Saint Doctor for the grace of having a child. That day, just before the "Father’s day", the church was crowded with pilgrims, but nevertheless I was able to bow before St.Joseph Moscati’s tomb.
Suddenly I felt a silence around me, while I was praying holding the Saint’s bronze little hand placed on the tomb, and a man came to me, a middle-aged man, who, bowing, told me: "You are praying to have a child, I have so many children and I can’t feed them!".
In that moment I was very frightened because I alone could know what I was praying for. I stood up at once and I tried to look for that face that I couldn’t have seen very well, but that man had vanished.
Thiking about what had just happened, a great calm filled my mind, and while I was trying to focus that man’s face, I realized that he was very similar to the Saint Doctor, who, speaking like that, invited me to look around, to be more charitable, more careful to the other’s needs.
Since then, I looked at everything with a different sight, and my prayer, together with my wife’s one, has been more and more ceaseless, and we prayed also the Holy Virgin of Pompei, to whom St. Joseph Moscati was devoted, and so the grace arrived.
My wife knew she was pregnant on April 8th, 1997 (day of the Supplication to the Holy Virgin of Pompei) and our baby was born in Naples on June 19th 1998, the day of Jesus’ Sacred Heart. During all her labour my wife and I asked for the Saint Doctor’s assistance, he tried and all ended well: our little Gianluca was healty and about 4 kilos of weigh.
Grateful to the Saint Doctor and to the Saint Virgin of Pompei, we came on July 30th 1998 to the Gesù Nuovo with our son for a fervent prayer of thanksgiving to St.Joseph Moscati for he will continue to assist us, and thanking him for all he does in favour of those that daily pray before his tomb asking for help and consolation. Rosanna Ferraro

I came from California to thank St Joseph Moscati for the grace I received. I constantly prayed to St Joseph Moscati for the strength to overcome and sustain the sufferings I experienced from my illness with breast cancer.
Nine month ago I had surgery for breast cancer and subsequently went through eight months of chemotherapy. I am now healed and I continue to pray to St Joseph Moscati to thank him not only for my life but also for my new faith, hope and intense love for Jesus which I was given through my sufferings.
St Joseph Moscati helps us in Santa Monica as well! Thank you with all of my heart! Always keep praying! (Rosanna Ferraro, Santa Monica, California, USA)

I made my daughter study until the degree, taking upon myself great sacrifices and a heavy work: I was a part-time housekeeper at several families and I did it for years, to let her continue her studies without any trouble. I did all that and it seemed that I didn’t do anything, because after a long training in a hospital, my daughter was still unemployed.
She participated to a competitive examination in which a candidate’s publications and academic record are considered and we were waiting to know the result of it. Someone told me that the University is a sort of caste and my daughter hadn’t any protectors! I prayed so much St. Joseph Moscati so that he would show my daughter the best way for her future: after so many years spent studying, she deserved a reward, and she had the Medicine in her blood!
My supplications were heard, and my beloved daughter had at last a reward to her and my sacrifices. When the examination results were published, I saw my daughter coming back home bursting with joy. St. Joseph Moscati let her capacities to be appreciated by all.
I thank devoutly St. Joseph Moscati and I pray for my daughter to become an excellent doctor as Moscati was during his lifetime. (A mother)
[September 1998]

An evening, coming back home through via Nazionale delle Puglie (Naples), on my motorbike, a car got in my way and I fell ruinously. The driver didn’t even stop to see if I needed any help, he ran away flat out.
Some passers-by helped me and took me to the Nuovo Pellegrini Hospital, where the doctors removed my spleen. The consequences of it could have been more disastrous if my mother and my grand-mother hadn’t asked for St. Joseph Moscati’s help during the operation.
The doctors themselves told me later that they believed in a miracle, as the surviving possibilities, in a case of a pulpy spleen, are almost impossible.
Since then I always take with me St. Joseph Moscati’s picture, so that he protect me as he already did it. Grateful for the grace I received, I thank and ask that all I have said be notified, for the glory of the Saint. (Maurizio De Stefano - Naples)
